My Jeep Story… My name is Martin and I’m the Ducking Realtor. Like everyone else in Jeep culture, every Jeep has its story. Here is mine! My Jeep story began when I was about 15 when I fell in love with everything Jeep. From then on I always wanted to have a Wrangler of my own. Although it would be years before I say this dream come through, my first car ended up being a Buick, which I must admit, I sometimes treated like a Jeep 🙂 As I approached my university days I bought my first 4 wheel drive in the form of a Suzuki Samurai. Yeah, it wasn’t a jeep and it didn’t go very fast, but it definitely solidified my goal of one day getting a “real Jeep”. In the meantime, we had a great time driving around in snow storms and lifting it back onto the road when it would get stuck and other things a teenager would do when roads are optional. With these experiences under my belt, I could only imagine the fun I would have with my own Wrangler one day. Fast forward to after university, I was now at my first career type job and I realized I finally had the resources to maybe get a Jeep! After armwrestling my 15 year old self over getting a Wrangler, I landed on getting a Cherokee with the classic rectangular body and the straight 6 under the hood. Although it wasn’t my Wrangler yet, it had all the DNA of one and I enjoyed many trips and adventures with it. I also learned to appreciate the safety of it after a 6 point buck ran out in front of me on I75 in West Virginia. Being able to drive away from that experience and continue my trip was something I wouldn’t have been able to do with my previous ride. Over the years I went from Cherokee to Grand Cherokee, to Grand Cherokee again, and then at a pivotal point in my life, it was finally time to start my Wrangler Adventures. Fourteen states, 6,950 kms, desserts, mountain passes, snow caps, plains, costal highways and some incredible sights later, I arrived at my new adventure, my Wrangler with me all the way. Many years and adventures later, and now with a family, I still have that Jeep and I hope that it will be around long enough for my daughter to continue the epic adventures with it. So that is my Jeep story, what is yours? I’d love to hear it!
